So if that's not your image, where did it come from? When was it created?

I played a bit of a dummy Carcassonne game with my partner just now, and I couldn't see any option for it. So I don't know. Perhaps ask the person whose image it is?

Just guessing, but maybe that format is something specific to one of the expansions.

Please give us as much information as you currently have. A table number. Which variants were active. Etc. If you've seen this in multiple games, it should be easy to get these details. Ideally you'd give us a table number and we can get the rest from that.

I just tested all the variants (but not combinations of the variants) and did not see the live score in parentheses. But all of them had live scoring on by default. If you think the (x) is the live score, then what is the 4 outside the parentheses next to it?

Another question: is this something you see on your screen? If it's only on your friend's screen, then it may be a plug-in they have installed.

One more question: have you asked this in the Carcassonne sub-forum, where you might find someone who instantly knows the answer?

I would assume the 4 is the actual current score, and the 8 is the score with end-game scoring added in based on current positioning. For example, farmers are only scored at end game (3 pts per completed city in their field), but if a field the farmer is in has two completed cities, you know that field/farmer will score at least 6 points.

ETA: I would guess this is the game in the image: https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=710096300. Looking at the replay, I can't see the live scoring there, so maybe it is some kind of extension or something?

Yeah, based on the country flag I guessed who the friend was and looked at replays with that person. That's what led to my question of whether OP had actually seen this on their own screen.

The screenshot is from this game, and yes it is showing the current final score, the score after the fields has been counted, so it keep changing during the whole game, but you always see the final score.

She has this in all her games, and other games to that has this kind of scoring, like terraforming mars and Ark Nova etc.

I have never had it, not seen it on my end, but she gets it both on her computer and phone and so on .. so its not a plugin, or anything she installed.. now i am REALLY curious.

Very much sounds like a browser extension your friend has installed.

Does this give any kind of advantage to the players being able to easily see what the final score would be if the game ended /now/ ? Feels like its leaning towards a cheat...?

no extensions on the phone, otherwise i would have agreed,

Advantage... yes, Cheating,..no..it doesn't show anything you cant figure out by counting
