marine world card search mechanics

Post by k4r »

hey guys.
I wonder - when we get university with specific animal, what is the procedure?
Algorithm start searching from the top of the deck, until it finds the animal.
Then what? searched cards went to waste deck? goes back to deck on top?
It would be interesting to know these number of cards wasted
Plus, I would like to know - how many cards are left in the deck.

Any thoughts?

Searched cards go to the bottom of the draw deck. Not sure what use knowing the number of cards left are, in my games at least i never get close to the end of the deck.

Alright, so I'll ask the silly followup question: The search reveals cards until you find one of the appropriate type. Can we see the revealed cards anywhere? (Hunter, for instance, puts that information in the public game log.) Knowing "opponent doesn't have golden eagle and since it's now on the bottom of a huge deck we'll never see it this game", for example, could be useful information.

No, designer specifically ask to not didplay this information publicly. It was also changed on older abilities to work the same.

Interesting! I am not a fan of searching cards because it involves a lot of handling and discarding, not something I like IRL. But even if I consider it to be a flaw of game design, I am (mildly) shocked that they decided to have a different experience between online and offline games.

Well it's because you obviously can't do the current online way IRL !

I'm a bit confused, here. Playing face-to-face,one player would need to see what the cards were,so then they would have an unfair advantage if the others couldn't. So,then it looks as if the designers are choosing not to mimic the face-to-face situation in online games.

But i guess noone sees the cards, the current player only sees the card that they get, not all the ones that have been put back into the deck
