Upside Down Card

Can someone explain why occasionally one of the cards is upside down when dealt? Not face down, but instead facing away from me, instead of facing me?

As written in the Rules... in the Upgrades section

"Do this on your first turn in the Action phase of a fruitful year.
Thus, when the first swap happens, you give the other player 3 normal cards + the inverted card. That card must remain inverted until you decide to play it on a turn in which you have it in your hand. "
