The downvote wasn't for you playing, but for playing non-strategically in Arena, because of multitasking.
And you are not sure it mattered who you gave the card to because it didn't matter for you.
What the player did wrong (IMO) was telling (s)he will give you a RT; but the RT is justified, IMO.
On the other hand, I think not saying anything to the player would have been best, in that situation; but I still don't understand why being in that player's place gets ignored.
How would this person know I was multi tasking? Perhaps I was employing a different strategy? Perhaps I simply made a mistake or misclick? Perhaps I am simply not as adept of a player as her or she is?
To red thumb because you do not like a legal choice a player makes is childish,
Perhaps your opponent realized the play you made would not have been made if you were paying attention, and thus inferred that you were not paying attention and chose the recipient of the card randomly. Which is, in fact, exactly what occurred.
There are some games I know well enough that I would realize if a 3rd player is just making careless random nonsense plays, and if I were adversely affected by this, I might consider giving a red thumb too.
Repeated random nonsense plays, sure. But I can't count the number of times my partner has said to me in a game, "why didn't you do that?
This is the obvious correct move for you!" and I have to admit I just didn't see it. He's typically much better at analysing a board state than me (once he knows a game). Although, I do occasionally say the same to him, usually at a point where he hasn't learned the game fully yet (I tend to be faster at putting the game together in my head). Yes, it can happen twice in the same game. Sometimes, if I feel like I'm obviously losing, I can get stuck on a strategy and find it difficult to pay attention to other strategies (hmm, I better focus on improving my status on Track A, completely forgetting that Track B even exists).
Besides, if another player was making repeated nonsense plays, I'd almost assume they were doing it on purpose - people who are multitasking might miss the odd thing, but if they know the game, they'll make some moves correctly. Which is not all that different to someone who maybe doesn't know the game that well yet. Or just isn't taking in everything on the board.
But, as has also been stated, people can red thumb for whatever reason. It obviously doesn't feel great if you know about it, but mostly, if someone doesn't want to play a game with me, I probably don't want them to have to. And there are plenty of other people here to have as opponents instead.
