Confused about double values cards

Post by 00cean »

Hey, I have some confusion with the spiritual side of cards. The rules specifically say : "If you play Animal cards, you have to use all their values, but you can decide not to use the symbols"

Does it mean that a blue double values blue card cannot be played on a single value white card ?

In a 1v1 scenario, it would then mean I could have a full white hand, my opponent only one blue card, a double Q for example, and I could just win every trick and discard each of my cards by playing Singles, winning the trick, etc till I have a empty hand, and my opponent could not do a a single move.

Is that how it works ?

Can I still play a double values blue card, on a single white card as long as the value is higher ?

It seems very wrong to me to be punished for spinning a card.

Thank you in advance

Yes, a QQ on one card cannot be played over a single 9 for example because they are different types of combinations.

Yes, if they have a QQ in their hand, the you can win by continuing to play singles only.

I think the punishment makes more sense in the broader context of these sorts of games. It can be easy to get close to going out, but then have control of the flow of the game passed to another player since you have so few options at that point.

As a defense, you can try to work backwards a little by leaving yourself with more flexible cards at the end such as bombs which can be played whenever or groups that contain a blue card. It can be better to build a strong hand first that the other players cannot interrupt before trying to get rid of all your cards.

Panda Spin is a little odd in that it's possible to be stuck with a pair or 3 of a kind. Even more, you may end up in the situation where the other player can easily remember that you are stuck with a pair or 3 of a kind since they just saw that card beaten.

Luckily, the punishment is low since the other player only scores 1 point for your remaining card and maybe a few more if they play some bamboo symbols on their remaining cards.

Thank you for taking the time to write your answer !

After playing a lot more, it makes a lot more sense indeed, as you're supposed to plan your exit !
