Tournaments You Sign Up for that don't happen

I signed up for a cribbage tourney that was scheduled for August 10. The day came and went with no game invites. I checked the tourney status and it said I participated and that it is closed. I am just now really wading into tournaments on BGA after a year of playing and being active. So, what is the deal with tournaments that happen like this? Does that mean the host cancelled? There wasn't enough participants that signed up in time? Is this just a black hole and I will never have the satisfaction of knowing? I am just so confused. I did send a message to the host of the tourney but figured I would post here as well!

I think when you get that message it means that the minimum number of players was never reached so it considers the tournament closed even though in fact it never started. I think this happened to me the very first time I tried to organise a tournament, it was embarrassing

It's sort of confusing that BGA says you "participated" in the tournament when the tournament never actually took place.

The one time this happened to me I was confused that I had missed a game start notification. Then I looked at the tournament page and it was called "test • Tourney 1" and had one entry: me. I'd created a tournament so I could accurately describe available settings in a forum post, then forgotten to cancel it.

Thanks all! I feel a little less crazy. The organizer did message me back and say there wasn't enough participants. Lesson learned!
