Does turn-based "work"?

Post by jwanders »

Played this a week or two ago, so there may have been changes since. It was a turn-based game, but as we couldn't find a way to replay other player's turns, there was really no way to know how the towers had moved. Without that, there's no memory element to tracking your wizards, and it just turns into a "guess and hope" game. Nothing wrong with that if people enjoy it, though I feel it's not in the spirit of the physical game. Also not sure how you'd "fix" it--I guess games with memory elements are just inherently not too well-suited to turn-based play.

There is a bug report regarding „Make game logs more useful“, see https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=175023

The bug was rejected by the developer, but he said, that „you should still be able to replay previous moves“. So, if you are not able to replay previous moves (I haven’t tested it, as I do not play turn based games), you should consider reporting this as a bug. (Please first check, if replay works for other games or if it is a general issue for all games at BGA).

By the way, the game Inside Jobs has solved the „memory“ issue in an elegant way: the game log shows what was played in the last round, but removes older logs. You can see the last played card of each player, but you can’t use the game log to check, what cards have been played in the past. That could be a solution here, too.
