Hello my name is Keegan. I am the designer of 9UP.
9UP was inspired by the classic card game Golf. Its a lot of luck with some neat card tricks, and maybe even some bluffing.
To play shuffle the deck of 54 cards and deal 9 cards facedown to each player. Arrange your cards in a 3x3 grid. There are three simple actions you can take on your turn.
FLIP one of your face down cards face up, triggering an card abilities. (Note this is the ONLY was to trigger card abilities)
EXCHANGE one face down card with another players facedown card and peak at it. (This is how you gather information about your facedown cards)
DRAW a card from the deck or discard pile and exchange it with one of your face down cards.
When any player has all 9 cards face up the round ends. Any remaining face down cards are flipped with no effect. The winner is the player with the most points after 3 rounds. The card in the center is worth double. Make sure its not a -10! (scoring is just the face value of cards)
So..
Flipping all your cards first gives you the advantage of (potentially) screwing over your opponents. Exchanging cards gives information but slows your flipping progress. If you want to do one of those neat card abilities sometimes you just have risk it and flip it.
Please check out the BGG listing.
Thanks,
Keegan
