I understand that many people might feel there are some disappointing aspects to the game.

From my perspective, I believe the game's charm lies in its simple and straightforward nature, just like a real fighting game. It's just about hitting or not hitting.

Regarding the rules, I've already sent my suggestions to the team. A significant issue on BGA, however, is that we can't implement our own house rules since the game runs on a fixed script.

On that note, I've encountered a technical bug that should be addressed. For example, when a Floor Break occurs during the 4th card of a Heat Combo, the game freezes. According to the rules, the game should continue, but the bug makes it unplayable. This is an issue that significantly impacts the playing experience.

Now I'll tell you about an experience of mine that some people won't like or might think is... cheating.

I played a few games with a major twist: I tried countiung the cards 😮.

And you know what? I think the game benefits from this because it makes it less random and you can try to better understand which of the various tactics your opponent could use and, later, try to figure out whether they're bluffing or not.

It's not an absurd mechanic in itself because in many games the discard pile is public knowledge (see Unmatched), and I definitely got the feeling that it makes the game slightly more tactical and slightly less random.

I'am waiting for your opinions. :)

Tekken looks really fun!"

But the current "how to" video from Go On Board is quite lacking.
I tried watching it and playing the game, and I had no idea what I was doing.

But 23 minutes into the Before You Play video...found here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5oTZadtq30 ...everything made perfect sense.
Definitely consider swapping out the Go On Board 'how to' with the Before You Play 'how to'...it might make all the difference!

After learning how to play, I must say that It really is an awesome game!
It's basically a really enjoyable version of paper rock scissors...but if it was made as fun as possible.

It's definitely got the same aspect of poker where: "I think that you think that I think that you think that I'll play this way...so I'll play that way...unless that just what I WANT you to think!"

My biggest concern going in was that it seemed too simple to stay interesting. After playing a bit, I think it's not quite as simple as I first thought. It's still a fairly straight forward game, don't get me wrong, but it has some complexity stemming from card counting and calling out an opponent's play with your block. Mechanics like heat and rage also add a small element of strategic timing / planning.

That being said, the characters probably could afford to be a bit more complex with more to differentiate them from one another, although maybe the challenges in the final game will add more to that.

I also felt that the gameplay loop was a bit too repetitive. The stage we have available to play in this demo is very small so it could certainly be a stage specific issue, but I found that every game would just result in getting someone's back to the wall asap, and then that person would attempt to do the same on their turn (which is not very difficult as 1 mid and 1 low gives you 3 movement and pushes). Therefore positioning felt like it didn't really matter. Especially because of the free dash action if you're able to create a large gap between you and your opponent.

Overall, I do wish there was just a little more complexity / variety to keep things interesting, but seeing as this demo is only 1 stage, 2 characters, and no other game modifiers, I think there's definitely potential for it to be pretty decent.

After 20 games it's an okay game with too many 50/50 moments but that is like the real Tekken game so nothing to blame on the Board game but this game is terrible for bga or any online format as mind games can only realy be fun if you see your enemy.

And pls add what the enemy guessed for your card
It only shows whether he guessed right or wrong
Would love to know if my opponent is guessing high the whole game

So far this demo version is a 6,5/10

Well, in my opinion, I've had experience playing both BGA and TTS.

BGA isn't yet 100% compliant with the rules because when activating HEAT, if the opponent guesses twice in a row, they win the turn with Punishment. There's also the issue of not knowing what the opponent guessed, so it's awkward and the experience is different.

In TTS, I play in call with friends, and I've played against people via TTS Chatvoice, and the game was 100% better. The fact that you can hear the other person's voice when they're unsure about their choice is much better. The TTS has 10 playable characters (8 from the core game and 2 Extras... Jin, Kazuya, Asuka, King, Yoshimitsu, Paul, Nina, Jack-8, Devil Kazuya, and Angel Jin) and four different scenarios with all the correct events. So, the experience is very different because you don't have to worry about pushing against the wall or hitting a spot to break the floor.

I understand the mention of Run in the game, but we use it because you can only use one of the three special actions (Run, Switch Base, Heat), so if you use one, you can't use the others at that moment. This limits you to using Heat, running, switching bases, and playing a card. The game is much more mental and keeps both players thinking.

Great analysis, thanks!

And most of all:

- When activating HEAT, if the opponent guesses twice in a row, they win the turn with Punishment.
- You can only use one of the three special actions (Run, Switch Base, Heat), so if you use one, you can't use the others at that moment.

I didn't know about these two rules!! (where did you find them?), Are very, very important, this should be reported to the BGA developer.

I have to update the Rulebook I created (though I think it was a huge mistake by Go on Board not to create a PDF Rulebook during the Gamefound campaign).

This is not the official rule

- When activating HEAT, if the opponent guesses twice in a row, they win the turn with Punishment.

At least now now it's suggested by a player here

Oh thank you, just an house rule, then.

Is this official instead?
- You can only use one of the three special actions (Run, Switch Base, Heat), so if you use one, you can't use the others at that moment.
