Ummm.... what happened to all expansions? It no longer shows up in my list. Is it just me?

So. All expansions has been removed. Apparently the company says that it was always planned. It's intent is to "not split the community" I expressed my opinion on the review page of their app. I was told I was being "unnecessarily harsh". I no longer have faith in bga that time invested into learning a game will necessarily be rewarded with the opportunity for high level play. I am very dissappointed today. I will not be playing initiation only. I have enjoyed this game and I'd like to thank all of you who've played against me for all the good games. I just wish they weren't all wasted time and effort.

Unnecessarily harsh, they said. They've taken the thing most precious to me, though it was always theirs. If I had known they would take it I would never have allowed myself to love it. Now it's like a piece of me is missing.

Edit: The 1 star rating is not a punishment for this move. It is genuine critique of a poor app. Also as far as I can tell, there is no more equivalent of the turn based draft variant at all. Also there are extremely severe limits on number of games per time, for server congestion reasons. You can , of course, PAY for the ability to play more games. If you roll back the review history on the 1 star, you will see the whole conversation.

Does anyone know how arena will work? Will you play with expansions or base or won't be able to play at all? I don't want to check myself because I don't know expentions

To clarify the situation: the Clash of Decks expansions on BGA have indeed been removed, but this was neither sudden nor arbitrary. The decision was made back in 2022, when we started developing the official mobile app. This is also why Season 3 was never released on BGA. We communicated this several times, through our Kickstarter updates, our Newsletters, and on the Grammes Edition Discord.

The reason is simple: for the past three years we have invested a lot of time and money in the app, and it was not possible to split the community between two digital platforms. Keeping expansions on BGA would have fragmented the player base, slowed matchmaking, and weakened both experiences.

The game has not disappeared: it still exists in its physical version and in the official mobile app (free-to-play, with optional in-app purchases to support development). BGA was always intended as a temporary showcase to let people discover the game, not as its permanent digital home.

We understand that some players are disappointed that the expansions are no longer available on BGA. However, the free initiation pack is still accessible to everyone. What we do regret is the attitude of a few players who deliberately give the app a ★☆☆☆☆ rating to “punish” us for this choice. After offering years of free content on BGA for all, such reactions show little respect for the work accomplished.

Hello, I just tried the app but the problem is that it's not the same game at all! Removing the draft phase and allowing deck creation changes everything! That's probably why the 1 star rating!

Kindly make your changes at the end of an arena season, not during one. You have in the past introduced extra cards, changed cards and now this season removed cards during arena seasons. In this case we cannot even start new games during this season any more.

First of all, I agree with TesujiOrc that withdrawing the extensions in the middle of an arena season (!) is just plain silly. I understand that you invested a lot in the app, but that is no excuse for this.

Regarding the choice of deleting the extensions, that's really a shame as they make the game more interesting and advanced. Base game rapidly gets boring. You could still addd some but not all extensions (as was already the case, you can drop some of these). I have the physical extensions, but no people to play with .

Regarding the app, I have indeed tried it, and to me it is just not a good way to play this game: at its heart it is a draft and puzzle game. I agree with the others here that the drafting part of the game is unsatisfying. The lack of a turn-based option just does not fit with the logic of the game. And lastly the number of 'lives' that you have is just really low. A couple of times my games crashed, I lost lives and... had to wait till I got a new heart. Pff very annoying, very cash grabby ('pay for playing'). Honestly, I'd rather pay for a game that works properly... like here on BGA.

It’s exactly the same game: same rules, same cards. There are two game modes: Constructed and Draft. If you prefer to play Draft, just click on the sword icon next to the “PLAY” button.
