IRL the game has you start with 2 victory tokens, and you can get more tokens throughout the game, but the total points are not added till the end.
on BGA they're added up the whole time, and there are no separate "tokens".
this is a problem when it comes to paying the robber, because players can pay the robber with their "pool" of victory tokens which will always have enough in it, since the endgame tokens are added throughout the game instead. it changes the game.
