I legitimately have no idea what this option really even means.

„In the game Just One, a "cultural word list" refers to a list of words that may rely on specific cultural knowledge—such as references to celebrities, TV shows, brands, slang, or historical events—that not all players may be familiar with, especially if they're from different countries or backgrounds. … The game rules sometimes suggest removing or skipping culturally specific words if you're playing with an international or diverse group, to keep the game fair and enjoyable for everyone.“ (source: ChatGPT)

So this is just what it could mean. A reasonable guess that looks sensible. Don't take it as a reference for anything.

We have been debating this in a recent game and only found that thread as "proof".

The absence of a definitive explanation is hurting the game. It's not even sure if this means the clues or the list being on cards.

Now that chatGPT definition is problematic and I feel it doesn't fit the spirit of the rule written by authors as I've had access to it on Repos Production website.

There are different cultural backgrounds for any given language, it's particular to UK english that "to bum a fag" means to light a cigarette, hence the possibility of giving a clue that is culturally diversely appreciated. And I feel this is this kind of example that has led to this option (there were other means to get rid of possible dogwhistling). I haven't found on the log the suggestion that led to that option.

In French, Belgium says an "essuie" when France says "serviette" and essuie is only used as the verbal form for "wipe". There is now a dictionary that compares uses in different French speaking countries, regional particularities comprised ( https://www.dictionnairedesfrancophones.org ). Nevertheless, that never has been a problem in my games within the French speaking community: people understood that depending on the region or country, some clues would be good or not, and never has risen a dispute on the subject of a local word.

Not all players are familiar with the fact digital has the same root as "doigt" (finger), but in the end, we still rely on people being knowledgeable enough to make it work. People that don't know, learn. People may even argue - and that's in the rule, you're allowed to discuss how the rule applies. How is different from knowing that ring means both a highway around a city and an item of jewelry from knowing both and that there is a book and a film where a bunch of characters spend time getting rid of one?

Everything is cultural. Age is also another country. Taking out cultural differences is only making the statement there is a cultural truth, and that's a form of soft power, it's detrimental to smallest countries, to new uses of words (what's a reel in the wake of digital film?). It's not being inclusive.

As someone who used to teach a foreign language, it's really weird to try to take the language out of its cultures.

In the end, I'm not sure I would be able to know when a word is coming from slang and then has been deemed mundane enough, when an historical/literary reference has been totally or only partially recognised as one or integrated, and same for a whole bunch of thing. What about homophones of culturally referential words? Sure it can be discussed in the chat, after the fact. But I'm not sure the frustration born out of it would be worth playing the game, and certainly won't make people welcome foreigners or "minority" speakers.

Tl;dr I'm putting suggestions to clarify or suppress,:
