Cretaceous Rails - Looking For Developer

Post by Chad Remington »

I'm Alex Wolf, owner of Spielcraft Games, the publisher of Cretaceous Rails, and I'm looking for a community developer interested in helping get Cretaceous Rails onto BGA.

It's a medium-weight Euro with engine/tableau building, resource management, route building, and a new twist on worker placement. Here's the BGG page: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/363 ... eous-rails

We're launching a reprint and expansion on Gamefound soon, and would love to get something up and running on BGA by the end of September if possible, but getting something up and running ever would be awesome.

I'd love to offer a copy of the game along with all 3 expansions and neoprene playmats to anyone who wants to do the development. I would love to hop on TTS to teach the game to help you decide if you'd want to work on it. Here's the TTS mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 3452328268

If you're interested in discussing or have any questions, feel free to message me on BGA or contact me via https://www.spielcraftgames.com/contact-us

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to chatting.

Hi,

As a 20-years experienced webdeveloper, I would be very happy to make your game work on BGA during my free time.

As I have multiple friends interested in this type of game, (some of them web developers too), would it be possible to have an insight of what the game is, and the rules ?

(You can send an NDA if you feel it's needed.)

Pierre Olivier,

Thanks for your reply. The game revolves around a dual-action worker placement grid that gets randomized every round. Each turn you select a pair of actions from the available pairs. You lay rails in a hex-grid jungle, harvest trees from the jungle, take tourists on train safaris to make dinosaurs more valuable, and capture dinosaurs. You transport everything you get from the jungle on your train, so you want to add train cars to your train to expand your carrying capacity, and you're also building a 3-level tableau of cards that give you ongoing abilities to build your engine to optimize action efficiency.

Here are links to a couple of videos that can teach you a little more about the game:

You can find the complete rule book here:

I'd be happy to set up a time to teach you the game on Tabletop Simulator if you'd like.

No need for an NDA, but thanks for offering.

Hi, thanks, I took a look at it.

I was already loving the concept (bringing tourists making safari to dinosaurs), I find the mechanics very attractive too.

I don't know Tabletop, but would be very pleased with a demonstration.
It is something we could set up some day of this week, something like a day between 5 and 8 PM UTC ?

I will ask my friends if they're willing to participate too - either as developers or as testers.

Great! I would love to meet on Google Meet or something this week. If you don't have Tabletop Simulator, I can share my screen to walk you through how to play the game. 5-8pm UTC works for me any day tomorrow through Friday. I will send you a private message so we can exchange emails in order to set up a meeting.
Thank you,
Alex
