Hmm... Let's see.

Suppose a game with 5 players.

1st player has no clue. Asks a question
2nd player has one clue. Asks one question
3rd player has two clues. Asks one question
4th player knows the answer from the two previous clues. Gives the answer
5th player also knows the answer. Gives the answer

Players 4 and 5 are declared winners. Player 1's only chance was a random guess.

Two new Game Rules:

1) Hint System: Each player is entitled to one private hint per game. The hint and its answer should be visible only to the player who requested it. When a player uses a hint, their turn ends. This signals to all players that an optional resource has been used.

2) Winning Condition: The "Submit Answer" button should always be active. The first player to submit the correct answer wins the game, regardless of whose turn it is.

With the way the game is designed now, (in a two player game) the second player has all the advantages! If player one is fast and has the answer, player two while not being there can check what they missed and also get the answer..

If player one submits a code player two can also submit a code and in case of a tie the one with the highest ELO loses the points what also does not seem fair.

Player two can ask the critical questions because they still have a guess whereass player one ask the critical questions, player two has the advantage.

I think this game got a whole lot less interesting and unfair!

This is a great idea, it should work!

A mode that will be more interesting is a "blind mode". Every player only receives the responses of his answers, the other players responses not. This will be more interesting, because actually you can make a very good questions that other players use to solve.

In some games, at the end of the game, is better do "silly" questions because with the "good" answer, the next player will find the solution.

The other player answers can be public, but responses no.

This mode will be more acurate on original 2 player game..

We have been following the recent discussions on the forum and are currently checking with the developer to see if certain updates can be implemented.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

The current BGA version of the game was intentionally designed with some differences from the physical version.
For 2-player games, the decision was made—after discussion—that using a single shared code to compete over, rather than each player setting a separate code, would be the most suitable approach for the digital format on BGA. This aspect will therefore remain unchanged.

However, we are looking into addressing concerns about fairness when declaring the final answer.
The planned adjustment is: when a player declares and correctly guesses the code, the remaining players in that round will also be given a chance to guess, and if correct, all will be considered winners.

If you have other issues or suggestions, please feel free to reply here. We will review them and share which changes may or may not be possible.
For further inquiries, you can also reach us at ryan@playte.com.

Thank you for your support and for enjoying Digit Code.
In that instance, because it is at a point where most players will have the code, the person with the higher ELO is more likely to lose ELO, even if it results in a tie. I would prefer to not have ELO at all above 100 or to make it so if there is a tie, no ELO changes.

Your expectation seems to be that a win should always increase (or at least not change) your elo. That's not how elo works, that's not how elo should works. You want something else.
Sure, but when there is greater luck based on turn order, then it seems unfair. Say you got it first and have the higher ELO. They guess and get it right. You then lose ELO. This game isn't really conducive to ELO because the games are so close anyways, especially after you get over 100 ELO.

The thing is elo is not about fairness. It's not about who deserves more or less, it's not about who made a greater effort, it's not about who was closer to win... It's just about predicting who will be most likely to win future games.

For sure there are problems. Elo is not that appropriate for games with luck (especially not with a one-size-fits-all k-factor), and it's generally terrible for multiplayer games, or cooperative or solo games. And many people want some kind of achievement or experience system, not a skill ranking system. But those are system-wide problems, not specific to this particular game.

that is the best idea i saw until now. you can see the others questions but not the answeres. that makes sense! then it really is about who is going the quickest way to the solution. still the second player (and other players) should have one more try when the first one solves.

Just to say that indeed it would be great to have one of these approaches implemented :
- blind mode (we only see our answers so the best way to get to the answer is rewarded),
- a 'Submit' solution button which would always be present (can be used only twice) so that the quickest to find the solution wins which is fair too.

Or make the bga 2-game as the physical version : we choose a number for the opponent (actually, I played it this way in a 4 player game @home and it was fun too, every player guessing the number of the left-player).

The game is really fun but it-s a bit frustrating the way the victory is given currently.
