Tutorial problems

I've now played the tutorial for the second time. I have no Idea what any of it means. None of the icons are explained, nor the resources or what they do, or when the game ends or the goal of the game. What are the tokens I'm placing when I'm taking actions? what are the crate tokens on my board? What are ores and population for? Why am I flying my ships to planets? What do the planets do? What are the requirements for researching a technology and how do they differ between being the first to discover and researching later?

yeah some games in BGA have notoriously bad tutorials, like this one. I'd suggest to watch youtube videos to learn it, that did it for me.

If you are patient enough to go through the whole tutorial, you can at least rate it as rightful.

Agreed, this is honestly the worst tutorial I've ever seen. Just jumping straight into mechanics while using game terminology with no mention of goals, board layout, icons, flow of the game, anything. If someone taught like this in real life I would stop them and insist we watch a video instead. Mind you I'm someone who's quite familiar with complex games. Someone should really redo this. It's nice we get a tutorial function at all, but this one blew my mind with how frustrating it was.

Agreed. This was a tutorial on bga procedural fluency (how to play on bga) rather than how to play in general

3 months later the tutorial is still terrible.
I just started it and stopped after 3 minutes.

Yeah, I just finished the tutorial and came straight here to see if there were any other complains. That was maddening, at some point after the third or so instruction I just shrugged my shoulders and went straight through so I can rate it 1. Hopefully we get another tutorial at some point.
