I didn't talk about games that could still contain bugs. But there are more games in Beta that have already been played 8000 times or more.

By the way: is there a way to find out which new games are added as Beta-games? The Beta forum is not really a good source for that, only 4 posts this month.

You can actually filter the game list by beta status if it helps.

But typically the way things seem to work around here is that games will quietly appear in beta (and be listed on the main list) without much announcement or fanfare.

To offer more of a general explanation overall (both for you, and for anyone with similar questions):

A release announcement sets a certain level of expectation that what's being shown is finished and ready to play- it serves as a demo to people who are thinking about purchasing the real game, an advert to those who didn't know about it, and represents BGA as a whole to potential players of the game who might be coming here to find more chances to play their favourite game.
So, if the game itself is buggy or inaccurate, it's very possible some of those people might associate that with their opinion of the game itself, or of BGA.

Releasing to Beta is necesarry if you want to get certain kinds (or amounts) of test data- but you also want that to be played exclusively by people who aren't expecting perfection and won't think less of BGA or the game if everything crashes when you draw a particular card or something.

So beta games are effectively a limited release- they're put online without fanfare, and with warnings and disclaimers about their unfinished state- for those who are already invested in BGA and know where to look for them, people who know they're getting in for something that might still be unfinished and full of bugs.

Ay any rate, a lot of folks *will* play a Beta game before release, and even when they're "technically" incomplete they're often still a lot of fun to play- so you'll see some big numbers on them.

I like playing this game 8-)
I looked for the game irl and was surprised to find it was unavailable. To buy it used was about $175! I'm glad it is here on BGA :D I couldn't afford to purchase it irl
