It's not a big deal at all. I'm happy to concede or be conceded against. Go do something more productive with your time. Chess games which can last multiple times longer than the longest AN game have this feature built in to no one's displeasure. Bifurcating the player base with settings of allow concede seems suboptimal too for matchmaking speed. The main downside to conceding is that those games don't hit the stats if that's something you care about. Which I do, but it is what it is.

It's not the same as chess, the result is not just win/lose. And you can't just foresee the exact ending like you can in chess which is why (mostly) people resign.
Lots of thing get resolved in the last turn. If you've bothered to play the game that far then why not just 1 more turn.

If there is an expectation from your playing partner, then it's the gracious thing to do. The same as the thanks for the game / handshake after the game.

You're also robbing yourself of the contemplation of a loss that will give you valuable insight for the next game(s).

"It's not the same as chess, the result is not just win/lose."

The possible results in chess are in fact the same as the possible results in Ark Nova. Win, lose and draw. What am I missing?

I admire your contemplative attitude in the face of sure defeat. I'm just frustrated usually.

If you can't play some more minutes after playing 60-90 minutes, you are just a person with a bad attitude. The last move and winning are part of the game and should be enjoyed.

The person conceding doesn't know you, isn't friends with you. They have played the game with you thats all. You have no idea what other things they have going on in their day. They dont owe you and extra 3 minutes just so you feel better.

Don't consider this rude at all.

Knowing that some players dislike it i'll avoid doing it myself sometimes but often it's just clear who won and the last turn doesn't really add anything.

If anything the game should fix how ~50% gameplay is determined. The way points progress in this game you often only reach ~50% at turn 20 so you have to wait too long to resign if it's a clear non-game, ie super hand vs brick hand which happens occasionally.

When they concede like that and no one gets to an end score of 100, what does that mean for my stats?

I'm bummed. I've only just started playing against others (don't even have 100 ELO yet) and someone just conceded a turn-based game we'd been playing for days. I hadn't triggered end game, score was 97/72 so not that big a gap. It could have been my highest score if we had finished.

Those kind of stats are basically useless, some game end with 150points others with 100 and you probably played better if you end up winning with 100 points than with 150.

I'm guessing none of you have ever played CHESS. Or POKER. Or GOLF. In every game there is the opportunity to resign.
In ARENA there are no bonuses if you win by 50 points instead of 1.
In ARENA the goal is the WIN. Not the points.
If you need bragging rights, play someone you want to brag to.
If you want BCA to improve the system, don't let bronze players play elite players.

Problem solved.

Otherwise... I'll quit as soon as I no longer feel I can still win. I've got better things to do if I'm not going to win.
