Pluto colony issue (not bug)

I wish there was a confirm or undo option for the discard.

Especially in a turn based game it can easily happen, that a player doesn't realize, that it's not actually their turn, but only a trade triggered "you must discard". So, instead of playing a card, the player looses it. This can have a significant impact on a game. And it really sucks.

I may be wrong/confused here,but surely once you've drawn a card,it's too late to undo,as you've gained information on which card you've drawn.Shouldn't there be a warning that you'll have to discard,and it's irreversible ?

The card removal is part of the general trade bonus everyone gets, not just the active player. You get a card and then discard one.

The problem is, that when you play a bunch of turn based games (like 7 parallel matches with Colonies due to tournament setup), it can easily get a little chaotic. It's not obvious enough, that there's a player switch. You basically "think" it's your turn and try to play a card ... and instead lose it.

Edit: Lost a third card in the same game, because I touched a card while scrolling!!! This sucks soooo much!

The Pluto draw should not be automatic but gated with a button like “Pluto: Draw >> Discard”

Yeah it is very confusing how it works now and it used to work differently before. There is a bug report for it and you can vote for it.

I didn't accidentally discard anything yet, but was very close to it. Because as you say, you naturallly suppose it is your turn and you are about to play something, but instead you are discarding a card. It says it on top, but as you expect to play your turn, it is usually too late when you notice.

I'll definitely vote. I threw away my "Next card to be played" because of this. Oh, at least I got another card. Oooh. Dust Seals.

If the suggestion in the report was implemented,I'm guessing you'd be able to undo a discard up until the point where another player did something...but if you were the last player to draw-and-discard,you still might not be able to,because the interface would have decided that that phase had concluded ?

Sort of? I'm not sure it matters whether you are the last player to draw-and-discard.

When performing an action during someone else's turn (Such as the discard for Pluto's colony bonus), that action likely cannot be undone. Players should be very careful when performing such an action. I think this is true regardless of whether you are the first or last player to use the colony bonus effect.

If this suggestion is implemented, it should avoid the necessity of such an undo, because the player would literally need to click a button that says "confirm discard".

If a player fails to realize that Pluto is happening (which would mean not looking at the log and not realizing whose turn it is), AND then disregards a button that says "confirm discard" that must be clicked before continuing ... well, there are only so many layers of safeguards we can put in place. At some point players just need to pay attention to what they're doing and accept that sometimes part of playing board games is making mistakes that cannot be undone.
