Slightly sad about etiquette

Post by Idriselle »

Currently have had a few games where just as it get to the end point where only a few pisces left, people have stopped playing and not making there moves. Leaving the game hanging. Specially when they are at the disadvantage. Please can we see the game though!

I just looked at your recent history, but I don't see any examples of people running out of time in your games.

If these are currently active, turn based games, and they haven't run out of time yet, have you checked to see if they've even logged in? Maybe they don't play on weekends or something else came up?

Unfortunately this issue is rampant in online backgammon. You see it all the time on BG Galaxy—one of the most popular online bg platforms—to the point where Galaxy is working on a disciplinary measure for players who abuse the clock in this way. So the problem is not exclusive to BGA.

PS: Hi Remkar.

PS: Hi Remkar.
Are you talking about real time games? I was a little confused, because a quick look at Idriselle's games history shows that they possibly exclusively play slow, turn-based games. And I wasn't sure if what they were seeing was intentional delays or just not logging in to play games for a bit. In turn-based, it really shouldn't be much of an issue since they aren't keeping you from playing other games, and if they do use up their clock, you can boot them for the win and a karma penalty. But I didn't see any matches when anyone went over time or got booted, so I'm still not sure exactly what situations they were referring to.

For real-time games, I can see it being annoying since you actively can't play another game while you wait, but I didn't think Idriselle was talking about real time.

PS: Hey, man!
