ELO awards not showing anymore

I've noticed in a couple of different games that ELO achievement awards don't show anymore when you cross a milestone eg 200 ELO, 500ELO etc. Is this deliberate and if so why remove that? Getting 500ELO is worth an award far more than opening a treasure chest on the home page.

These were proper games (conspiracy, rftg etc), not coop games etc.

Can you explain where you're looking? The only way I can see it is to manually go into my profile XP achievements and scroll down to search in the game itself. It's there but I did not get an after-game pop up, and it is not logged in my events/history in the side bar which it used to be. Without those it just passes unnoticed to the point where players won't even realise.

Is that the aim? It feels like when they removed ELO from coop games but you could still see it in some places until people mentioned it here and bga then deleted the scores from those places too. ELO awards are good things. Please leave them alone!!!

I don’t know but perhaps they no longer give the notifications for some types of badges.

They made this change a long time ago. They’ve pushed the narrative that elo isn’t important. Although they never announced their changes my theory is that it was done to disincentivize people from cheating. If people can’t see your achievements, granting less recognition, then maybe they will be discourage to not cheat to receive them.

In the process bga destroyed interaction on this site which is unfortunate. Interaction with friends on newsfeed (at least for me) died with several of their changes like no longer posting elo achievements, arena placements, notifications when your friends comment etc. They still haven’t improved their group pages after years of suggestions. Because of all these things ppl use other platforms like discord instead & I think bga wanted this overall to create less stress on the site.

but then they create new game-page launchers where the top centre of the screen is.... your current ELO ranking. You know, those new game areas they wanted to replace the old "play-now" lobby but which everyone said wasn't great vs the old lobby which nearly everyone I know prefers and continues to use where possible.

The issue is they want ELO but at the same time want to say it doesn't matter. Why? Because a lot of the devs never accrued any meaningful ELO in any game. It was tabulated in the lengthy ELO thread a while back. edit link here: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... 55#p168355

It sometimes feels like the people at the top with the vision have gone and the site is left without any real direction, or worse interference from higher-ups at umbrella companies. Anyone who has had that misery knows it all too often ends up in things going round in circles of bureacracy with each tier changing/overruling what the last one decided, and so the net result is a lack of direction. Couple that with lack of investment/resources and you get a right mess at best, and a dying star/sinking ship is not unknown either.

Yes I know. It is very hypocritical. They also redid the homepage to include a section for your placement in the hall of fame (xp).
I’m aware of the elo thread and mentioned this exact topic several times within it. The admins made comments to suggest players shouldn’t care about Elo while simultaneously making new pages to plaster your elo/xp like you mention . The thing is though only the player sees this now whereas before any achievements were posted to your profile and feed allowing others to see it as well. I cant think of another reason for them making that change.

but then why remove ELO awards pop-up? That is only shown to you after the game ends. Why remove that progress milestone? That seems non-sensical.
