9 seconds gets added per turn. But the turn timer can go as high as 1:27, so for a key play, someone could review much of the hand history in the game log. That would deplete the turn timer, but it can quickly be regained by making several obvious easy moves in 1 second, adding 8 more seconds each time and building the turn timer back up.
Exactly.

So what I think Olivia wants is the maximum time to be lowered to 30 seconds not the time per move?

It would be no good for a Spades game to force people to bid inside 30 seconds every hand. Particularly at the end game where you need to do some quick maths as it is.
Agreed. I think the game is fine as it is. It's a thinking / skill game. Yes, memorization is a factor, perhaps. I mean, people can play turn based and just keep a notepad on which cards were played. even in real-time, is it difficult to keep a tally of cards remaining? Probably not. I like games to be decided by tactics and skill, not by who can remember what.

It is often observed that one player at the table tends to play at an excessively slow pace.
This situation proves to be unfair to the other three players, who are required to wait.

Furthermore, if a player consistently requires nearly two minutes to make each bid,
it may be inappropriate for them to participate in the Arena.

It's unfair for a player to use the allotted clock? How so?

I frequently contemplate the reasons behind the comments made by individuals who have minimal experience with a particular game.

Referring to anyone specifically? Because, I'm one of the highest rated players on the site.

976 Posts is a lot.

You probably are one of the highest rated for that!

Indeed.

I help maintain one of the games here, which means I have hundreds of posts in the bug/suggestion forum for that game.

But, I was referring to my spades rating.

To return to the topic at hand. It shouldn't be allowed and technically isn't. But you can easily take notes or use other means to cheat anyways. So keeping it hidden mostly just puts everyone who doesn't want to abuse it, at a disadvantage.

Fairest solution is to have the information available to everyone, and accept it as a necessary compromise.
At least it keeps similarly skilled players on equal footing.

Added consideration is that playing online is not entirely comparable to RL.

Lacking the docial aspect keeping your focus at the table.deep and the deep immersiveness of physical games, You're not just more likely to get distracted online, you'll forget things faster and more easily when you do. BGA also doesn't notice or care if you look away, or need an extra moment to process a trick. The way real players might.

So showing the history might technically be against the rules. But hiding them isn't necessarily more representative of real life skill.
And can just be a frustrating hurdle when playing casually. While putting honest players at a disadvantage in competitive games.

More than 30 seconds is quite long for a card game per play.
