Patchwork World XP rankings on BGA

Post by CameronHamill »

Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering if there's a way to list the Patchwork only XP rankings here on BGA? Also I'm wondering if there's a way to list all of the players by number of Patchwork games played?

I'm just curious in these statistics. Even if I'm ranked 20,000 of 20,000 Patchwork players in regards to Patchwork I would still be interested in knowing.

I was also wondering if there's a way to track peak ELO at Patchwork and also my average ELO over certain periods. For example, hypothetically if, from 1 January 2025 to 31 August 2025 my average ELO was 125 from 40 games.

Just curious to use it as a motivator to try harder at the game and push myself. Perhaps to raise my average ELO and so on. Just to track my progress.

Yeah not sure on the number of games played. Would be super easy if we had access to the BGA databases but we don’t. You can see how many games individuals play in their stats.

For the ELO per time period, you can look at your game history and filter for a time period and one of the stats shown is ELO points won. Peak ELO you can kind of see with their graph of your ELO but that is slightly not what you want as it takes your average ELO for the day instead of the peak.

If you are ambitious and have any programming skills you could probably write a screen scraper program to gather stats and graph them in different ways. I’m a programmer and am too lazy to do that though.

Thanks very much for your reply GiannisIsTheBeast!

Unfortunately I do not have any programming skills. Thanks a lot for the tip on how to monitor the ELO more closely. I will just click on random player profiles of prolific Patchwork players to gauge how many games they've played as you said.

It's more to see how players have progressed and seeing when or if they hit brick walls etc.

I need to start watching some of your and other players games as it's been suggested to me! Specifically how to deny opponents pieces that they need. I believe I'm getting a bit better at pre empting my opponents but not at denying them. I have over 400 games of Patchwork played on the app (against medium AI) but I'm not progressing. I definitely need to study other players games!

I should be somewhere in the top 5 for games played and very likely top 3 for total XP in patchwork.

I'm currently @ 348k XP and 7000 games played.

I know dchin888 has over 11.5k games played and MaxCostello is currently around 7.8k games

They are very impressive statistics. It's interesting that BGA would very likely have the best players in the world at particular games!

It's a big achievement to be able to rank that highly in the world at Patchwork. 7,000 plus games of Patchwork is exceptional!

I recently started playing here after not having played it in years. And that was over-the-board casual games with friends.

I read a strategy thread that was very helpful - I cannot recall who wrote it, but it might have been you.
