Azul browser extension - official announcement

Post by C0d3N1nj4 »

Hi everyone,

I'd like to take this opportunity to announce the first of its kind Azul extension - https://chromewebstore.google.com/detai ... agiialnkcc

Main functionality:
- Automatic tile counter (shows you the remaining tiles in the bag for each colour at the start of each round).
- Round counter
- Dark theme

... and much more. For a full description, please follow the link - https://azul-extension-info.cloud-flr.workers.dev

If anyone likes to contact me with feedback or ideas or questions, you can find me in the Azul Discord server - https://discord.gg/t9knWCuhJu

I hope everyone enjoys it! 8-)

Best regards,
CodeNinja

This is very nice, thanks codeninja! Much less headache than manually tracking with the built-in BGA notes feature.

Yes. I plan on releasing it to Firefox and other browsers too.

I haven't touched the extension for months now because I've been busy with work and other things in life. But soon I will come back to it and add more features (including browser support) ;)

Where's the fun in that, we play table top games to avoid this.

When you play the physical game on tabletop, you can look in the box lid to get the tile count. It's only on BGA that you have to either remember or write it down.

That is not true. Nowhere in the box lid you will find the number of missing tiles. You only find the number of discarded tiles. This is not the same.

Otherwise a tile counter in Carcassonne (everybody could count the tiles each turn, right?), a live score in Carcassonne (everybody could calculate it every turn, right?), a pip count in Backgammon (open information again!),... all would be defined as being identical to Real Life boardgame play. Most players would not agree...

Please note that displaying the number of discarded tiles only would be acceptable for me. But the Azul tile counter does more. It does the summing up, calculating the difference and displays this information as easily accessible numbers. If you do it in your head you have to remember the number of tiles for a whole round or recalculate if you do not remember. In high level play this is valuable time spent on calculations that the other player does not need to perform.

Anyone with a tile counter should be banned unless it notifies the opponents during gameplay and allows them to opt out of that game. Essentially, anything unavailable during a standard IRL board game of Azul is kinda 🤡.

Everyone is counting tiles in the competitive 2 player area.
In turn by turn, by using the notes system
In real time, you can use a notepad or whatever next to your game...

Otherwise, since the last update today... the plugin does not work anymore
