Matchmaking / ELO issues?

It seems like the matchmaking for this game does not work very well. I am not a great player and am relatively not that experienced yet, so my elo is around 130.

Yet, all the time I am matched against primarily Chinese players who seem to play a lot (fast responses 24/7 in turn based) and are also very good and have an elo of around 400 to 650.

What is the issue here? I have the higher levels of players checked off in my matchmaking settings. The parameters for matchmaking seem to be off. I mean, Ark Nova is one of the most popular games on the platform, so there should be no issue finding actual players of all skill levels.

Does anyone know what's going on? I feel like a piece of sharkmeat. There also doesn't seem to be much elo to gain for the vastly superior opponents.

Arena matchmaking is based on your arena settings and on your current arena league for the game, not on overall ELO

I am having the same issue. I am bronze /elo 100 and keep playing with platinum plus with elo 300-500+. I don’t expect to do well in the tournament. I just want to have fun. I wish that this would put me up against people with similar ranking/ elo.

If you just want to have fun don't play arena, just play normal games and you can restrict the settings to your elo

you have settings before launching an arena game that can force your opponents to be the same league as you. If you are bronze and choose that setting, there is almost no way to encounter a high ELO opponent as previous elites starts in silver league.

I love playing the game regardless of ELO. I’m a very low ranked player (100 lol) Andi set my settings to no experienced players and yet I’m matched with high ELO alllll the time. I think it’s a bug. It’s a good thing I don’t mind, but I would like to see how I do with similarly ranked players

Don't play arena ? Either you want elo to be considered or you play arena, can't have both

Where do I go to adjust the settings to play with players at my level? I only play normal games and can't earn any ELO at this rate as everyone is wiping the floor with me.

If you're playing arena, on all your games' page there is a gear icon on the left side of each game. Click that and adjust the filter to only include your league or minus/plus one. Then queue from that page by pressing "play now". Don't queue from the individual game page as the filter won't work. If you're playing a simple game and creating a table click on restrict table access and choose what elo range you want to play with. Average is 100-200, good 200-300, strong 300-500, expert 500-700, master 700 and above. (I create tables from the multi game page, I don't know how to set the filter when creating from the individual game page.)

Thank you! I have searched everywhere for settings to do that but couldn't find them. But I always join from the game screen itself, not multi-game area. Thanks again!
