Infinite points loop

Post by borvratanar »

I think I found an infinite points loop in Revive and wanted to sanity-check it, see if it actually works on BGA, and hear from devs whether this is “allowed but ultra-rare” or a bug. If this is already known, sorry—couldn’t find a thread.

Setup: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/js3xi0z7 ... ji7c8&dl=0

Loop (each cycle = +1 point):
1. Play C2 behind grey citizen.
2. Use M2 to spend lightning for +1 devotion, then recharge lightning.
3. Pay a crystal (T) to rest C2, then use lightning to wake C2.
4. Play C1 behind the two green crystals; M1 recharges lightning.
5. Pay a crystal (T) to rest C1.
6. Pay a crystal with M1 to wake C1.
7. Recharge lightning from M1.

Back where we started, plus a point --> repeat forever.

What I tested: On BGA I couldn’t assemble the full combo, but I verified pieces: you can rest multiple cards via T as long as you have crystals; and within a single action the timing/order doesn’t seem to cancel already-triggered effects.

Variants: You can swap the green citizen with Meduza for the same effect; or replace the grey-citizen card with the green citizen that gives a point when you tuck another card (then you don’t need grey crystals, just green). Instead of using the machine that gives you one devotion point you could also use the yellow machine that gives you "normal" points + food.

Let me know what you think!

Should work.
As far as I know you can retrieve a card that you discarded in this turn.
Resetting the same machine twice, when you get the 3 energy resets should also work.

Congratz on getting infinite points in your game.

The expansion is way too snowbally for my taste.
1. Get one of the new cards fast.
2. Be lucky with the card you get.
3. Do some sick combos and win the game.

This brings being snowbally to the highest level.

I’ll respectfully push back on this, because depending on the map layout the ability to rush 4 devotion is highly variable. And since the typical way to do it is by building large buildings next to lakes, there is opportunity cost because you’re not doing as much machine track advancement (which remains very important for securing premium machines, some of which are necessary for the aforementioned sick combos).

I love the expansion because it nullifies some very strong heuristics/assumptions from the base game, those being: “basically never use your switch”; “prioritize building a large building next to 3+ terrain spaces ASAP”, and “science scoring is mostly bad”.

I do agree the power disparity between the Scyphoz cards is high; I almost wish each Scyphoz node on the devotion track had an open-info display of players-plus-one cards to draft from when you get there.

I have had at least 4 games where I could do anything on my turn. Get all cards all crates all slot modules all tiles uncovered.
I lost all 4 games and over 100 elo lose. The game simply froze. I broke the computer programing.
The only defense against a run away turn is to deny the ingredients to the baker so they don't get into the pie.
