The next Arena Season will be played including Nature Spirit Cards. I know that many of you enjoy the version without nature spirits, too, and I want to offer a season-round competition with that version.
I created three tournaments over the rest of the year. At the end of the year, the results from all 3 tournaments will be summed up together, and we crown the Harmonies Autumn League Champion. Each tournament consists of eight round robin groups with up to 12 players, the best 4 in each group make it to the KO stage.
Autumn League Cup A (20th Oct) - https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=441661
Autumn League Cup B (13th Nov) - https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=441666
Autumn League Cup C (8th Dec) - https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=441670
For your overall Autumn League score, all your wins from all 3 tournament group stages are summed up (ties score a half point), that means a maximum of 3x11=33 points can be scored from this. In addition, the following bonus points are rewarded:
- The best 8 in each round robin group get one extra point* (to make the fight for the lower ranks in the groups more interesting)
- Reaching the Semi Final in a tournament scores one extra point
- Winning the whole tournament scores an additional extra point
- If there are unequal group sizes in a tournament, the players in the smaller groups get an extra half point.
As you can see, the group stages matter more than the KO stages - this is on purpose. KO stages can be very chaotic and the matchmaking for KO stages is anything but random. Still I did not want to ignore them completely, hence the small bonus points for great KO stage performances.
Tiebreakers
If there are ties in the Autumn League score, the following tiebreakers determine who is ranked higher (in listed order):
(1) More bonus points (= more tournament wins / semi final entries / top 8 in the group)
(2) More KO wins overall
(3) Cumulative score difference in group stages
The overall ranking is created and updated by me - I will create a Google sheet and share it.
EDIT: Added the tiebreaker rules.
* This bonus point reward depends on actual group size:
- Best 8 in groups of 11 or 12 get the extra point
- Only best 7 in groups of 9 or 10 get the extra point
- Only best 6 in a group of 8 get the extra point
- Only best 5 in a group of 7 get the extra point
- Only best 4 in a group of 6 get the extra point
