So how does one play this bot Boop? From a glance I see a reference to a zip file though never saw where it was. I probably overlooked something since I'm not familiar with these things.

Just unzip the file and run it from the folder. Requires Java to be installed.

I think I got the system to pull up, but haven't figured out how to pull up a game of Boop or face the computer in something yet. How do you challenge the bot in Boop on there?

Actually, I stopped the experiment one week ago. I have already submitted my paper. I should have the notification of acceptance around mid-March. If it is accepted, I will put a link toward the paper in this thread.

Hi all,

I'm back to give an update on this project. The AI played 51 games between last December and January, and submitted an article to a conference, then to a journal.

The article was rejected both times, sometimes for questionable reasons (for the conference, I was criticized for over-explaining my story around my Android app which is at the origin of this AI project; I corrected this for the journal, which told me that the choice of the boop. game wasn't justified enough), but also for valid reasons: in particular, the journal found my combination of AI methods a little pushy and unnatural, and in all honesty, I can't disagree with them, even though I still think this combination can prove adequate in certain situations.

I don't think I'll submit this article for a third time somewhere, but it would be a shame if this work just disappeared. So I'm leaving an open-access version on arxiv, which anyone can find here: https://arxiv.org/abs/2406.08766

Thank again to everyone who accepted to play against the AI, and sorry for those who wanted to play a game against it but didn't have the occasion. I am polishing the Android app that includes this AI, so you should be able to play as many games as you wish against it soon (as long as you have an Android device). Unfortunately, my Android app, as well as a second app, have been removed from Google Play Store because my so-called lifetime Google dev account has been closed for inactivity. :/ And I don't feel in the mood of paying $25 again to open a new account and set up everything again.
