Innovation tips / strategy guides?

Post by KenFin1 »

Has anyone got any good tips / strategy guides for this game (innovation)? I am really not very good at it and would like to improve.

Strategy varies wildly with the different expansions. I'd stick to the base set first and get to know the cards well. When someone destroys you with a mechanic take note of why it was powerful and which cards might potentially be able to stop it. You really need to know what possibilities are available to play well.

Tips for base game: at the start of the game prioritize teching up over scoring, and also focus on building your tableau and splaying cards. If you are behind, always try to push to the next Age to find more powerful cards. Special achievements are awarded without needing to waste an action claiming them, so try to snag those.

Learn the base set first.

Learn the power cards of each age. Start by learning the power cards in the low ages.
1 Wheel
2 Mathematics
3 Machinery - extremely important card to keep track of. If you don't have it and all the 3's are drawn, assume your opponent has it and track their hand.

Some cards are amazing in almost every context, some cards are really bad in most all contexts.
example: 10 - miniaturization - yes it's possible the card could be good but almost never sees play as an age 10 card and it just sucks 99.9% of the time
