For my discarding the red other one after he clued the red 4, at that time I thought that there was only 1 clue left that could be used, and since the red 5 was discarded, then the other red card must be useless. Your assessment of the other red being useless has no flaw. But it violates „play before chop“. And, but that’s very advanced, doing that should be reserved to more serious situations than just „could help using more clues if he used up all clues“. Specifically, you can do that when you have no clue, but should save his chop immediately. In this situation, if you chop instead of play, your partner (if he plays well) will understand that he has to move his chop, and will discard the 2nd oldest unclued card instead of the oldest one.

My first question is that are players tend to think the number-clued '2' as play-clue, save-clue or both possible? I tried to clue the 2 on the chop place to avoid the case that the other same color 2 is at the end of the card deck, but I am afraid if players tend to think it as a play clue when there are different color 1's on the play area. I think the 2 is very important as I occurred cases that it was in the very end when we finally found the other 2 after we first discarded the first 2.

Yeah, generally, that‘s exactly why good players save the first 2s (and potentially also 3s of which the 1s are played already, and so on. If you save on chop only, most ppl will understand a 2 clue as save, even if there is no unique 2s but some playable 2s. Don‘t care about the ones that don‘t get that. But, along what we discussed before, you can reduce the risk by saving the 2s directly, instead of risk of losing them and only clue them after playing your 1s. Personally, I side-clue save as much as possible that will be useful eventually, as long as there is enough space in the hand.

Thank you very much for your advice. Actually, this is a point which I learned from the guideline of this game. I thought it was very important after I met with the situation without 2. I will try to save 2 early to avoid misleading when there is no play clues for me to give.

The second question is that in a two-player game, how can I avoid discarding a card that is just becoming the only card after my teammate discards the same card before my turn? I thought I could try to give clues rather than discard unmarked cards to give my teammate the time to mark the card that he discarded one turn before.

That‘s also pretty advanced, but your thought is on spot: Double discard avoidance, by cluing instead of chopping right after a card still needed (and that you can’t rule out from having on your chop) was chopped. The important thing here is that your clue is not misleading (same rules as usual apply for saving - at least for the majority of regular BGA players). Do you already know that you also can give empty clues? You also can complete information on already marked cards, but only, again, if it‘s not misleading.

I haven't tried to make empty clues, but I have tried to clue the marked cards to give more information when it is possible to make mistakes. I regard my teammate playing or discarding instead of making saving clues as a safe clue when there are available clues, where I can discard my chop cards. I think my teammate will choose to make save clues when it is necessary.

the only real mistake u made is clueing 2s at the end, when neither w2 nor b2 were playable. ur teammate, on the other hand, made several weird decisions throughout the game.
1. clueing random unplayable cards. if it was my first time playing with them i would interpret such clues as a Self-Finesse.
2. waiting a round to clue your g3. as far as they know, u would discard g3 immediately after they play g2/y1, which would not be good.
3. allowing not one but TWO copies of b1 to be discarded. when u discard the first b1 u clearly communicate to ur teammate that u dont know g3 (which u should know, but that is a smaller error which is more normal at a beginner level). so why do they think u will know it now, when nothing changed since the last turn?
4. after playing g4, discarding g1 when it could have been g5. in a more experienced game, this would tell u that u hold g5 somewhere in ur hand - and since your clued 5 is known to be blue, the only position g5 can be is slot1, thus i would blind-play it.
5. allowing y2 to be discarded. very easy to clue u yellow, instead they clue an unplayable w5 which isnt even on chop.

i noticed u mentioned "github" in an earlier reply. i assume u are referring to https://hanabi.github.io/, and if so that is a great place to learn Hanabi strategies! the only downside is that there are a LOOOOOT of conventions, but they are sorted and categorized very well into "levels" which makes it very friendly to a newcomer. if u are looking to improve at Hanabi and learn a lot of cool strategies, i would highly recommend reading the "beginner's guide" from there and playing on hanablive instead of BGA.
