Deer/Wolf is close to making me quit

Post by Doulos_ »

Spent a portion of the game flushing out all the butterflies and deer I could from my opponent, but did not see one wolf the entire time. Opponent still draws 5 deer, 3 wolves, and enough hoofed cards to absolutely curb stomp me. There is no way this synergy is balanced and 3/4 people I play against just play deer/wolf. It is getting so old and repetitive. It so very needs to get nerfed. When I see my opponents play a deer in the beginning of the game, all I can do is hope they do not draw more or that I can flush them, if not I know for certain I am done for. Very discouraging.

And yes, I myself could just play deer/wolf, but that is besides the point. Besides, it feels so cheap and repetitive.

Have you tried the expansions? Have you tried Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor? (That's the same game mechanics with some twists and more balanced in my view.)

lol agree, I'm playing in tournament and all the wins features wolf+deer combo. if you don't have them, you'll (almost) certainly lose.
dartmoor is more balanced but has owl+bat combo which is kind of the same but cheaper.

Just play against me then, out of 100 games I’ve never touched deer, lynx or wolves. (Only the bison if I’m getting a lot of beech trees) Yes I know not going that route means I lose 90 percent of the time. But just because everyone else jumps off a bridge doesn’t mean I should. The deer and wolf completely breaks the game. They should of limited the initial amount of each only 2 deer of each species and only 3 wolves would of made a 2 player game more bearable because then you might only see a deer or 2 the whole game. Which is totally fair, because there’s no guarantee you’ll see a single tiger salamander or even stag beetle or even a gnat in a 2 player game. For me if I have to go the same route as everyone else then it’s no longer a game. I want to go my own way and have a chance of winning. Thankfully dartmoor fixes this problem, there’s not a single strategy that’s overpowered, a player going heavy bats can go toe to toe with a player going heavy plants. Ect.

So after a few rounds of forest shuffle I hop on over to dartmoor, a much more fair competition. The only thing keeping me around here, is I do like a lot of the different animals and plants, and dartmoor doesn’t have as many varieties, Yet.
