I was waiting for the guy to press start, and he was taking forever, so I stepped away for a minute, and now I lost like 40% reputation because he didn't start when he was suppose to....I don't think that people should lose THIS MUCH reputation just for this...like maybe 5% reputation I think is fair....

Per the FAQ:

If you quit, or get kicked out of a game in progress, you lose 10☯ or even 20☯ if you already quit another game recently.

You had another game about 9 hours ago that you also were booted from. That one was 10 karma loss, this was 20 karma - I can't explain why your reputation is less than 70 though, unless it wasn't at 100 when you had those losses.

Your opponent had either stepped away, or something happened that they did not click to start the game as quickly as you wanted. If this had happened under the old system, where there is no confirm screen, would you have booted them when they didn't turn up for a couple of minutes into the game? If you click start, make sure you're ready to play. If your opponent isn't and you don't want to wait, you can exit the game without penalty at that point. But clicking ready to start and then walking away is probably going to end badly.
