Three player arena

Making a three player arena for this game is sadly a terrible idea. The only way you can move up in the rankings is getting first. Bga why would you do this to the game.

A lot of the previous Arenas have been 3 player. I don't particularly like it, but I know a lot of players do. I'm more concerned about the new wonders that have appeared this season.

Not sure I understand the complaint. Shouldn't you need to win to move up the rankings?

Yes but I fell you need to win almost all games if not actually all games to get to the top.

- 3p is one the best competitive settings, where you have the most control over what your opponents can do, where war affects everyone, where economy is so tight every resource is a tough choice etc. It's just good!
- you can climb up by being 2nd, you only need to have a third with a nice rank. It does happen.
- there is only one new wonder, Carthage, which came with edifice but is compatible since it does nothing new. It's flexible, fun, and not too strong. There is no problem with it if you enjoy the game.

I agree that three players is the most skill-based format with the most control over the game, but this control allows one player to hate the other in order to overtake him. If one player is way ahead of the other in arena rating, then the other two can start hating him and are almost guaranteed to get arena points. There are also often situations when two strong players cancel each other out and a not very strong third one wins.

Despite this, three players is my favorite arena format [perhaps because of my obsession with military ]

None taken, I kind of expected this reaction. I don't doubt anything, I just notice. You're being mean about a setup that's very exciting to 7 wonders enjoyers (despite its little flaws, see above, but I personnally see many more at 4+ players with lots of balance problems), and you don't answer to my objections. I observe that you complain without actually making any point. But sure, nice rating, bravo.

I have only played arena for this and the last season, This season is all 3 player while the last had 4 or 5. 7 wonders is a completely different game with 3 players than it is with other numbers. Many strategies are eliminated in 3 player. I hope future seasons go back to higher numbers of players, it was much more fun.
