Sudden new arena matching screen?!?!

I've seen that happen as well (another language, not specifically Japanese). It does leak a little bit of information.

I like it, you can say waiting for people to accept is tedious, but it's arguably even more tedious if the game starts and then those players don't turn up and then you have to wait for their entire clock to go before you can do anything. With the accept screen if someone doesn't turn up in a minute you can just cancel and search again, making the process significantly faster to get into an actual game than it would be before if someone didn't turn up.

This is not true for small player base games. Often the players will wander off because it took so long and now the queue new to start again. I'd rather the game start and everyone else get a victory then never even get a table started.

Before, if you spaced out you got punished. This is an incentive for you to not do this again. Now there is no down side for people forgetting and wasting everyone else's time.

For those mentioning when it happened because of bugs and poor server connection, they should be addressing those instead of accepting them as normal and creating a new system to deal with it.

I'll have to check next time it appears in another language for me.
First time it happened, it was in German and since I have both German and English on my profile I thought that was why.
Next time it happened it was either French or Spanish so I knew it was not taking this from my profile.

I think having to click Accept to start an Arena game, is a good change. It helps to know everyone at the table is Active and perhaps just considering their first move. In the past, people had to send random messages to check if someone was still around - before the game even started.. and then had to wait it out in case the person disappeared in the meantime..

I'd like to ask whether there is now an easy way to see the opposing player's player's ELO / rank / tier? It's possible to click on their username and scroll through their profile but this becomes quite cumbersome. When playing a "Simple Game", these stats are right there under their names but for some reason, it's not available in Arena mode.

It would be nice to display those stats in Arena as well, or otherwise to be able to see it when hovering over a player's name.

Any thoughts on this from other players?

Indeed, my problem with this change (eliminating the opponent name and rating) comes as a result of not know who the better players are in a grouping. The name does not matter but the rating does.
Example: If i am playing hearts or any other game where there are more than 1 other opponent, It is good to know who are the better players and who are the lesser players. In hearts, I will take the better player more seriously, and try to drop Queen on them earlier in game, especially over the the lesser player of whom I may need to h keep watching their plays. Knowing the rating of the other players matters when playing the game.
