Don't penalize quitting a solo game in any manner

Post by MisterCranky »

I'm sorry if this has been suggested elsewhere -- a brief search didn't find any posts requesting the same idea. Sticking the red "quit" penalty icon on a player's profile, however temporarily, because the player quit a solo game? That's just dumb. Forcing the player to "propose to abandon" a solo game when the only person involved is themself is just silly.

I started a solo game of Feast of Odin to test out the idea that die rolling the same number 3 times in succession on a hunting or similar action might be happening with unexpected frequency. The first time I tested it, I rolled three sevens in rapid succession. My wife and I have been playing the game a lot lately, and have noticed this situation occurring. As soon as it happened in the solo game, I quit the game, satisfied that yes, there's almost certainly a flaw in the way the die rolls are being simulated in Feast, if not across the entire site.

What do I then see? The red penalty indicator has been applied to my account. For people who care about such things, I am now a pariah for however long the thing stays. It's stupid. Change it. Make me a pariah because I called the site stupid, if you like.

TL;DR - Get rid of solo game quitting penalty indicator.

There is no penalty indicator. If you go to the game table, yes it does say that the game was cancelled, however this doesn't show on your profile.

I don't see any red penalty indicator on your account.

Not sure whether your alleged observations about dice rolls can be trusted either ;) Whenever I had a streak of unusual dice results, it eventually stopped.

Solo games in all but a handful of games are in training mode. There's no penalty for quitting a game in training mode.

Even in the few games you can play solo in ranked mode, I believe you can quit without penalty. You can otherwise concede, or convert it to turn-based and let it be abandoned after a few weeks of inactivity.

The former training mode is called friendly mode since quite some time now.
