Tie game rules

Post by nipen »

Hi all,
Had my first tie game https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=708812862&nr
I am confused - it says that the tiebreaker is money but the statistics say that I have more money than my opponent. Am I misunderstanding the tiebreaker rule? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tie breaker is money *remainder*, not just overall money.

Meaning that after you remove any money that scored points, whatever is left over.

So, if player A has:
100 points before counting money
And 20 coins
That is 104 points total
0 money remaining (20/5 = 4 points, no remainder)

Player B has:
103 points before counting money
And 6 coins
That is 104 points total
1 money remaining (6/5 = 1 point, with 1 coin remainder)

The 1 money remaining that player B has breaks the tie.

So, it's not the fact that player A has more money going into the end game scoring, it's that player B has the greater remainder after money was scored.

Ah Perfect. Thank you. Makes sense. That way the money isnt being double counted.

Huh, I didn't know that was how it worked and assumed it was a bug. Glad I came to check!
