Add time after move?

Post by ResonanceSM »

Is there any way to turn this on in tournaments? We have it for turn-based games, but it doesn't seem to happen to be an option with tournament games.

I was just in a tournament where I was playing every day as fast as I could, but because it was a longer game and apparently, I was just in the wrong time zone, I kept bleeding time because it always seemed to be my turn while I was sleeping and eventually I ran out of time. Trying to figure out how to avoid this in a tournament (without making it very "me"-central).

All tournaments have a fixed time length, and there is no way to configure them to add time increments for each turn.

Your tournament had a 30 day maximum duration, and that's the longest setting available. I notice you were skipped about 13 days into the tournament an hour after you ran out of time. It's now possible to configure tournaments to not allow skipping players that have run out of time. If the game isn't finished when the maximum duration is reached, the ranking is determined by the remaining time on everyone's clock. It's possible your game could have completed if no one was skipped, so you may want to look for tournaments with skipping disabled.

It's also possible to create tournaments with playing hours where the clocks do not count down during the "sleeping" time. Unfortunately, there are usually people that join these tournaments from the "wrong" time zones and then they run out of time.

Discussed very often in these forums; for example this recent thread: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44636
