option

Post by Dop53 »

:?: I just played Carcassonne with a player who seemed to know which tiles were coming next. Did I fail to activate an option, or was this player cheating?

There's a third option: the player didn't know what tiles came next. You're imaging things.

Just own up to your cheating allegation because you know full well there isn't an option to tell you what the next tile you're going to draw is.

But it is a false premise that these are the only two options. There are some players who literally have all of the tiles memorized, and can place tiles optimally based on what's likely to come out.

Sometimes the other player just gets the perfect tiles at the perfect time.

I lost one game of Carcassonne that had me staring in disbelief as one devastating tile after another appeared, while I drew non-scoring tiles for a couple dozen turns. It happens.

I do play the strategic variant, so any sequence of 2 or 3 tiles by my opponent could have been planned.
