Tutorial usable on iPad?

Post by Merrypaws »

I’m trying to learn the game via the tutorial, but cannot place the pieces (nothing happens when I touch the screen). Does the tutorial work for iPad?
Thank you.

I wouldn't recommend the tutorial to learn the game rules, it's probably better to watch the official how to play video (which goes a bit fast) then if you want to familiarize yourself with the user interface you can play a solo game, which is mechanically similar to a multiplayer game.

Oh and regarding the ipad, you might run into issues if you have a narrow screen, I'm not sure what resolution you're playing with but it's probably going to work better in landscape mode.

There's an open bug about this but it's unlikely to get fixed soon.

Almost every tutorial I've ever done on BGA has a note at the beginning that it's best to do it on a computer. Given how nearly universal that warning is, it's more likely that they forgot to give it for CoC than that CoC is somehow an exception.

Thank you, Jeromie and Meeplelowda, for your replies. My ancient iPad is my only usable device at present, so I shall look out for limitations.

I just realized it's specifically nekonyancer who puts a warning on his tutorials, and he makes A LOT of tutorials. But I don't think it's because there's something he's doing wrong. I think other tutorial makers simply forget that people may try them on mobile devices because you create tutorials on a computer.

When I have create a tutorial, I have only tested it on my system, on my computer, on my browser... But I don't think I should put any warning that it works "best" or "only" in a computer, or in Firefox, or in Linux, because I have no evidence to that or the contrary. If I know some particular step may not work or may have issues in some circumstances (e.g. no way to right-click, screen not big enough, etc.) I would mention it, but otherwise it should be BGA's job to (a) ensure it works in all platforms and (b) put appropriate warnings if it doesn't.
