What is a good game of 6 nimmt!? (apart from one you win obviously)

I just have some brief questions about 6 nimmt!

I'm wondering what are the maximum number of rounds with these game settings, typically speaking.

In 5 player
Card set variant: Disabled
Professional variant: No
Game Length: Starting score
Starting score: 66

I have unfortunately, through extremely poor play, have triggered the game end after just 2 rounds. I notice that a decent round length seems to be 5 rounds (before a low score triggers the game end).

I'm also wondering how frustrating it is to other players if the game end is triggered after let's say 3 or 4 rounds? Apart from being the losing player and triggering the game end. Is there a general expectation of a game lasting the full 5 rounds?

For me personally if I finish last and trigger the games end after 5 rounds I feel the other 4 opponents would be satisfied with that playing length?

I guess in a nutshell do other players, for example highly experienced players, feel let down after a game of just 3 or 4 rounds? Apart from not finishing last I'm relatively happy if I can last the 5 rounds.

I wonder what your opinion is on this? How do you feel if you trigger the game end in round 3 or 4 for example (apart from possibly being disappointed at finishing last).

Interesting question. Just doing the quick math...
If 20 cards were left on the table at the end of each round, and all 34 cards that were taken were 1 point each, then theoretically 10 rounds would be possible. But you said "typically speaking". I don't think I have ever seen a game with these setting go more than 6 rounds.

I would say a 6-round game is pretty rare, and the winner will typically have 0-10 points.

We've all had these disastrous games. It happens. However, some of the strongest players go for months, or maybe all year, without losing this badly. But that's only a few of the strongest players.

If a game ends in 2 rounds, then yes, that seems short. All the other players still have high scores. So, it can be a little frustrating to have 61 points and get 4th place. 3 rounds is still a little short, but it's somewhat common.

I appreciate you caring about your opponents experience. But I wouldn't worry about offending higher ranked players any more than average players. The only thing that's unacceptable is being rude. Quite a few of the strongest players know each other, and I have found them to be a pretty friendly group.

It's interesting you mentioned a typical longest game (5 player with 66 cards starting score, no variants, no professional mode). I just finished my first 6 round match! Despite finishing last it was a great battle in my opinion. The winner, as you pointed out, won with just +3. I finished with -19. However I still appreciate being part of a 6 round battle! It was game #760443971

I don’t count the number of rounds each game goes. As long as I don’t end up at the bottom half after any number of rounds, I’m happy, even if the game was only 2 rounds. If the game is only two rounds and I’m in the upper half than I’m just glad the game ended quickly and I can move on to the next one. I don’t feel any extra satisfaction from longer games but I think a good game is a game where everyone is tied near the bottom. I’ve only had a few that ended up that way with almost everyone going negative.

That's an interesting way to look at the game, rashellie7. I will start to think along those lines when I'm playing. I completely agree that games where players are tied near the bottom are good ones.

I was thinking about experimenting with starting score 33 (5P) and starting score 99 (5P) games to see how I like those. I pretty much only play 5 player, starting score 66, normal mode.
