Amoriax - tactical roman board game

Post by zxretrosoft »

Hello BGA friends!

Accept the invitation to the classic Roman board game Amoriax in beta version. It is a tactical positional game, the pieces are not eliminated, they are only moved from place to place. The goal is to be the first to get the crown in the middle.
The game has simple rules, but rich combinatorics.
I hope you will like it! ;)

Rules:

P. S. The number of possible combinations in the game is 3,554E+28.

The progress isn't easy to compute in this game... possibly Manhattan length from the center to the closest piece could serve as an approximation, but it's still rather imprecise.

Can't we at least make a rough calculation that cca ~50 moves is 100%?
Anything above 50 moves will also be 100%. It won't be exact, but it might be more accurate than having 50% everywhere
What do you think?

Exactly. This is what I do for 420 and Run Buster. These games have highly variable lengths. They could end on the first turn or after 40+ turns. Instead of 50, I use the average number of turns. Very imprecise, but a lot more informative than just setting all games to a constant 50%. Doing it like that looks shoddy and slapdash.

Nice implementation!

Two comments:

1) with a slide move, the piece should move in a straight line rather than in an arc, that would be clearer imo

2) at the end of the tutorial it says "Move your piece from E2 to E5, click Confirm and claim victory!" but it should actually be E8 to E5.

In addition to the classic opening, there is a new option to play a random opening. Try this attractive option, similar to FreeStyle in chess.
