Babylon

Post by puzzlereed »

Omg I hate this wonder. Any tips on how to do better with it? I feel like certain wonders will give you an instant win as long as you play your hand correctly. All you have to do is pray you get a good wonder.

Babylon is actually not that bad, if you're utilizing it's advantages. I recommend to play on the night side. In the Age 1 try to finish the first stage and build as many science cards as possible. This way you'll be set for good game. Even one science card, Scriptoriun for example, is a good start for science victory.

Babylon on the night is actually probably my favourite wonder of them all in the base game. Just play to it's advantages, it is very dependent on the stages to score good, but i have pulled a lot of 70-80 scoring games combining the possibilities. I think my average scoring is 60+.

Think about it, prioritise stage building, green if possible, red is always good, resources may stack but it is not bad necessarily. one set or chain of green is equally fine, as well as going all in on green. You have a chance to build two cards on your last turn, so make sure you can actually play them both. Common advantages are possibility of building two reds on one turn or playing two very good cards at once, not needing to waste the other one like with other wonders. There are many ways to score good with it.

To best learn Babylon via other player's advice, I recommend replying in a way that avoids suggesting you don't value advice unless it meets your standards for thoroughness.

Ratincage, I'm afraid you're feeding a troll.
There is a lot to be said about Babylon (including day side, severely underestimated by the average strong player, non-green night side, also interesting if played right), but nothing reasonable is audible to this person. Remember 3-players competition is "a terrible idea" and criticism is "bullying".

My highest score ever (93) was playing babylon day-side. Of course the opposition was not very strong.

edit: score was actually 98
