FOR GOD"S SAKE, PLEASE !!!

Post by FrankJones »

For the sake and sanity of those of us who maintain bug report forums for specific games, can BGA PLEASE disable bug reporting for 2 hours when there is a BGA system outage ??????????????

The endless bug reports are tiresome. How do people not see the message across the screen saying, "MAJOR SYSTEM OUTAGWE" ?????????

Ironically, I think you'll need to submit a bug/suggestions report to get this implemented.

Depending on the nature of the outage, getting in to disable bug reporting may or may not be possible (assuming it's possible even when the system is working). As Meeplelowda said, you could submit a suggestion, but they may or may not pay attention to it/be able to deliver on it.

If bug reporting did get disabled, I suspect that may just drive people to the regular forums to complain the bug reporting system is broken.

At the top of any BGA page:

"Our service is having an issue right now.
Note: all reputation penalties received for leaving games will be cancelled."

Possibly neither. 1) Paradoxically, people in general have developed a habit of simply ignoring banners like that so putting it in a banner may actually make it less likely to be read. I imagine a forum post would get more attention. 2) Maybe they are literate, but illiterate in English. But that's something I can test by changing my language preference.

Ed.: OK. That banner is translated to Spanish at least, but I'm not sure how to check if it is available in all languages.

There have been 40+ moronic reports in the Terraforming Mars bug report forum.

People are just stupid. That's all there is to it.

This is actually a tremendously valuable exercise in demonstrating the collective *.

I mean, also yes. In fairness, there's been a time or two when I've posted an bug that is not one (maybe not here, but I know one perfect example about an app I use that happened a month or two ago). But I've had the good sense to either realise and revoke my bug report or to at least acknowledge wasting someone else's time when they point out that this wasn't a bug (though I do appreciate devs who do this politely, as I'm sure they appreciate my acknowledgement back).

What? How can this be if it's not in their usernames? ;)

It's one thing if people get a rule wrong or misread the board. (I still wish they would learn the rules or check the game log before making erroneous bug reports.)

But even the best of us can miss something occasionally.

The frustrating part is the pointless mountain of bug reports saying that the game interface is not accessible during a site-wide system outage.
