I guess if you could also demand to get out of a game with a grand master, a superhero, a criminal, a flightless bird, a fictional detective, an extinct reptile... they're all in the name too, you know. It makes me wonder how many people have refused to play with me just because they think I'm an impossible object
The google search "What is a Jellby?" was interesting but did not make me wiser. :-)
I think the impossible object is their avatar. Of course, I have an unfair advantage in Nova Luna.
Ah, the Avatar. As a mathematician and geometer I am not afraid of the tribar (Penrose triangle) but I well understand people who are. :-)

I didnt find a link to moderation reports.
On the player's profile page, the "Report this player" button is at the top.
I followed the link to the policy discussion. The discussion went to a bunch of links that others in the discussion said were not helpful.

"Report this player" listed a bunch of reasons that I might report someone, but being a bot was not among them

It's in the name
Any human can choose a user name which includes "bot" in the name. The player you mentioned has played 30+ different games and thus cannot be a bot.

There have been single cases where somebody has programmed a bot that could play a single game autonomously (e.g. Azul). But this is not allowed by BGA rules.
It made me think he was using the account at least in an attempt to gather data for training purposes, which I would like to not be part of. I was actually more interested in the longer term ability and preparedness of the site to prevent AI assisted and training participation, bec I do think it will lead to the death of online games. But I suppose it is impossible to prevent that, and we will all be overrun by ai everywhere and not be able to do anything about it

You're still trying to report a player for being a bot based entirely on the username? With no actual evidence of cheating? My understanding is that if you do that, you may be the one who gets punished.

You know, I suspect that SerBaldur would be a slower player on account of them seeming to be a fantasy race dwarf, so I'm not totally sure I would want to play with them either because I prefer fast games. I probably should red thumb them on that basis.

(/sarcasm)

It's in the name? Really? Meeplelowda isn't an actual Meeple. euklid probably isn't a famous mathematician (although the spelling variation might give that away). And I would be unsurprised to learn that FrankJones's real name isn't actually Frank OR Jones (but I guess you never know).

Haha, If you only knew... :-)

Side note: Euklid is the german spelling of Euclid. It is Eukleides in greek and Euclides in the latin form.

He said he's a mathematician, I wouldn't dare to say he's not famous (although there are not many famous mathematicians). He's probably not 2300 years old though.

Fair. I don't claim to be an expert on Euclid/Euklid. Or German.

Moderation reports are for real problems, not fictional situations. They have actual reports to take care of, and only so much time to do it. It's one thing to post it here for other users to make fun of it. But to post it as if it was a legitimate report is a great way for the mods to decide you're trolling and wasting their time, and I'd imagine that's probably one of the things they had in mind when they mention moderating users for false reports.

Why should bots be banned? If there were competent bots, that could be used as a solution for "player times out in tournament game"?

I agree that, if bots are allowed, players should be allowed to refuse to play them. (probably via a profile setting or identifying the bots waiting for a game)

Writing a bot that played every game on BGA competently would be pretty impressive AI.
