I have been playing turn-based Catan on BGA for a few years and, although of course it slow, I find it works reasonably well. In particular, the game log in standard Catan allows me to quickly scroll down and find the last time I viewed the game so I can see what happened since then.
It's disappointing that BGA's implementation of Catan New Energies is so different from, and significantly worse than, the implementation of standard Catan, in the game log.
I posted one bug specifically noting that the game log does not include the rejection of offers: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=195229 The bug really hampers turn-based play, because it becomes unclear when in the game log I last looked at the board. I find that because of this bug, I revisit my opponents' turns.
Other issues with the game log:
• when the dice are rolled, the game log is much too verbose in listing each player's resource gains; it ought to present this information compactly like in BGA's implementation of Catan
• building roads is much too verbose: it takes three lines when one will do. At present, the first line is "[player name] spends lumber+brick"; the second line is "[orange road symbol] Token moves to map"; and the third line is "[player name] builds a [road symbol in player's colour]". This is confusing when the player involved is a colour other than orange, because I always have to read it twice to understand that it's not the player whose colour is orange who is building the road; but orange is just being used as a default colour of the road. And instead of three lines, the whole transaction could be described in one line (as in base Catan on BGA): "[player name] builds a road for lumber+brick"
