This is such a weird thread. Ticket to Ride clearly allows for more aggressive and defensive gameplay. The game is built on scarcity of resources and routes - blocking of all sorts is bound to happen.

I suggest playing a solo game if you don't like "obnoxious" interaction.

Here is an interview with the game designer, Alan R. Moon, talking about how blocking is part of the game he designed and how he likes to use that strategy. (The blocking discussion starts around time stamp 1:40 or so.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV3goQNR3D0

Thanks for the link to that game. I just learned how to replay a game which I didn’t know before. I can see what you mean about the circle. It does look like they were also building a longer train with it though.
I liked the comment about giving a red thumb down, just learned that too.
I knew a family that always played games “cutthroat style” and the dad was the meanest. It seemed like he enjoyed making others get upset. Mostly it was Catan. Thankfully due to a divorce, I no longer have to share holidays with them. He was a red thumb down for sure!

You'd think so, but many people think they know better than the Game Designer!!!

If that was a "mike drop" post that can "close an infinite discussion" then this thread would have ended three years and a dozen pages ago, when I first posted the link to that video.

Instead we appear to be fated to having people necro this 40-month-old post forever, as people keep reposting points already made years ago

I agree with the block no block game. and I think that it could be like an honor role system where if u put the no block on hopefully you wont play with people who purposlly block. Because I also agree that blockers are big doodie heads to put it in my 9 year old daughters words

Perhaps your daughter needs to watch this video from the game designer -

I wonder if the game designer has said anything about the issue. That'd settle it for sure. Does anyone know?

People too busy whining about the game rules to listen to the designer!
