Complaint about illogical defeat at Sky Team

Post by Alain984 »

Dear Support team,

I'd like to submit to you what happened in the last game at Sky Team I just played.

The game was almost over and victory was guaranteed. The alignement of the plane was right, the speed was good and all the other things had green lights on. The last thing to do was just to put the two dices on the engine space (the one where the sum of the two dices has to be above a certain minimum).

All the other things were ok and all green lights were on, the minimum value for the plane to move had to be 8. I put a 6 dice, while my partner played a 1, so the sum was 7.
And the game was lost.

Now I would like to ask if this is normal.
I'm asking that since it's not the first time I noticed this kind of behaviour on this game.

I'd like someone to explain this, thanks!

This is not the support team. This is a user forum.

If you want to talk about what happened with other users, you should find the Sky Team-specific forum (down with all the other game-specific fora), and post there.

But yeah, this ain’t the Support Team. There is no guarantee any employee (or volunteer) of BGA will ever see this post.

If you want an explanation, I think it the most logic thing to ask that person themselves. Who else could tell you?

If you don't want to play with them again (which I can understand), I suggest you just give them a personal red thumb and go on.

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it. :-)

I know nothing about this game. It's a team game, 2 players, win together or lose together?

Perhaps the opponent just made a mistake? I've made careless errors because I was tired or distracted or had too much bourbon.

Also, a helpful note for the OP:

In the forums you cannot identify a specific game or player if you are also criticizing that player or using banned words such as "stupid" or "stupid play".

That will get flagged by the moderators every time.

In this case, in your spot, I would have posted in the forum for that game, posted the table number and simply asked, "Can anyone help with some analysis of this game and help check whether we had a winning sequence?"

In that way, you're simply posting the game for analysis (which is often done) without calling out the other player or insulting the other player.

In that game, is it not allowed to communicate in the text chat in=-game?

Some co-op games specifically allow this and require it (such as Mantis Falls). Some games specifically forbid this (Hanabi). I don't know whether the chat is disabled in Hanabi, but playing Hanabi while telling each other what cards are showing defeats the entire purpose of the game.

I understand there's no way for the moderators to check this specific table.

But, since I noticed this strange "path" several times (I played different times at Sky Team and already had the exact same situation, with an "error" at the very last move), I would like to know how to call the attention of the moderators on a specific table to tey to fund out if it's really just a mistake or something else.

Is there a way to do this? Are the moderators really able to check this kind of behaviour?

The real question is why would anyone spend the time to just grief you. People make mistakes and you just have to live with it. Red thumb them so they don't affect future games

Actually, I took a look at the game and I think you made a mistake.
On the last turn of Sky Team your speed must be lower than the brake (the value under the motors which was 6 on this game).
So I guess the other player tried make his best which is to put the lowest value as possible.
Maybe he should have tell you after the game what you did wrong.
