Ok fair enough, so for lack of forum now - any active Euro time zone player that wants to connect and play more active game (5 moves a day) - add me as friend and we try to pull something together!

I think it would be a good idea to create a BGA group for TI4 alpha testers that always finish games. Too many games where players just stop making moves daily, especially when they fall behind in Victory Points.

Who will moderate it, and how? Kinda tricky to check every player after every game

To some extent it'll regulate itself when people can chat and be more clear in expectations and then next game they'll only play with whoever's active.

Anyone got a good idea how to set it up? Discord / sub-forum thread here or another TI place?

This is the big one. The Nekro Virus has been deployed.

This rule-breaking faction has many unusual aspects.
* Cannot research technology, instead gaining command tokens from research effects.
* Can copy a technology from other players by destroying their units in combat.
* Can copy a technology from other players by correctly predicting winning agenda outcomes.
* Can even have up to 2 faction-specific technologies copied from other players, possibly replacing them with other faction-specific technologies.
* Flagship allows ground forces (both in space and on planets) in the system to fight in space combat.

As always when a new faction is added, please watch for any bugs. Also, read abilities very carefully, since Nekro is complex. A few notes in particular:
  • Antivirus must be played before it will protect against Technological Singularity. It is not active merely by being in your hand.
  • Antivirus does NOT protect against Nekro copying your technology with Galactic Threat.
  • If you already have 2 faction-specific technologies copied, and you copy a third one, you must lose one of your existing copied faction-specific technologies. Be careful, because this may cause you to lose units, e.g. losing wars suns from the map because you lost Prototype War Sun II.
  • If you copy Floating Factory II, all of your space docks must immediately float into space. If you lose Floating Factory II, they must immediately land on planets you control. You lose any space docks that cannot legally make these transitions.
  • To gain a technology with Galactic Threat, the predicted agenda outcome must win, and you can only copy a technology from a player who cast at least 1 vote. This means if all players abstain, and the speaker breaks the tie by choosing your predicted outcome, you get nothing.
  • The flagship allows your infantry on a planet in the system to fight in space combat as if they were ships. Unlike the Naalu flagship, these infantry DO NOT change location, but instead remain on their planets throughout the combat. This means you can have a situation where the Nekro flagship is destroyed, and Nekro has no space units, but combat continues because Nekro planet infantry are still fighting.
  • Per discussion with FFG, Galactic Threat's "gain 1 technology" effect is optional on BGA. This is the same as Technological Singularity, and means you are not forced to lose a faction technology in a rare situation where gaining a new faction technology is the only option.
  • Per discussion with FFG, Floating Factory units from Saar and Nekro are NOT allowed to peacefully exist in the same space area with no other units present. Instead, these details apply to streamline certain things and avoid the need to display multiple factions in space outside of combat:
    • You cannot ever use a placement effect (e.g. Construction) to put a Floating Factory on top of any enemy unit.
    • If Nekro and Saar ever have Floating Factory units in the same location and neither player has ships, the active player keeps their units and the non-active player is blockaded, losing their units.
    • This means you can move a Floating Factory into an enemy undefended Floating Factory to blockade it, or gain Floating Factory II and float your planet space dock up as Nekro to blockade the enemy undefended Floating Factory.
    • In the agenda phase, if Nekro and Saar ever have conflicting Floating Factory units because of Galactic Threat, Nekro is treated as the active player.
    • IN SUMMARY: Always keep ships to defend your Floating Factory units!

While players test Nekro, my immediate priority is to catch up on any outstanding bug reports. Thank you for your patience.

Once bug reports are handled, some improvements will be coming, e.g. N-1 automation support for the Trade card.

Congrats on deploying all factions!

Nekkro virus is a bug on it self, so we have to brace ourselves to find them all.

Hope you'll have some rest and holidays now GTSchemer!

Great work on deploying all the factions! Looking forward to seeing Nekro in a game. You've earnt yourself a break!

Is there a primer for how to submit a custom map? I can't seem to get it to work using strings from TI4 map generators, even after deleting commas.

I'd love to see some preset 3p maps with hyperlanes or different configurations (e.g. Manta) - the three current ones have the home systems too far apart (understanding that they are from the official rulebook)

I've had it work successfully with spaces, which many of the map generators use by default. The string for the map I'm currently playing looks like this:

Code: Select all

22 19 24 26 21 23 <-- inner ring
36 30 33 34 20 29 32 27 28 35 31 37 <-- middle ring
3 39 43 5 46 44 10 25 41 16 48 45 17 40 47 2 49 42 <-- outer ring

The normal keegan / milty map generator output should work without modification, with some important notes:

* The layout should be traditional, e.g. very large maps and unusual shapes are not currently supported.

* Expansion tiles like Prophecy of Kings do not work.

* Certain unusual hyperlane tiles may not work.
