Empty draw piles + city meld bug?

Post by jamdalla »

I'm playing a Cities game with AnotherSava right now, in which I successfully used Fission to blow everything up with the very last base 10 it was possible to draw. This removed everything except 5 base cards from the game. Now it's my turn and there are no base cards left at all in any draw pile.

My plan: meld the city card (age 9) I have in hand onto an empty colour. I'm unsure whether this would cause the end of the game or not (trying to draw an age 9 city, age is empty, so trying to draw an age 10 city, age 10 is empty, trying to draw an age 11 city... Since 11 city pile is empty, would I then try to draw an age 11 base card?).

If this causes end of game I'd win by score because our score piles are empty but my city has bonuses on it. If it does not cause a draw, then we'd have to see if my opponent can finish by achievements or surpass my score before we have to draw a card...

Unfortunately everytime I try to meld that city, I get a server error. I myself am unclear whether the city draw is supposed to happen or not after rereading the rules. Is that ambiguity tripping up the server too? :-D

From the rules :
If all the base cards from an age's supply pile are one, that age is considered empty for all types of cars. When drawing an expansion card of a value, skip empty ages and draw from the first next available non-empty age.

If an expansion's supply pile as no cards in it, and you try to draw from it (after skipping empty ages), draw a base card of that value instead.

----------------
So here you are supposed to draw a base card of infinite level which should quite clearly end the game.

And one also understand that coding requires a specific handling of this scenario because code doesn't like infinites...

Seems like a clear bug to me. You should report with a screenshot that includes the red error banner and the game's move number
