Completing a form to learn rules

Post by danielvictor »

So I saw the banner for the game Chu-han.Went to look at the rules, only it wanted me to fill in a form first, which discouraged me. Is this a new blanket requirement,or only for this game ?

It depends on where the rules are stored, bga doesn't store the rules itself it just gives people the option to link to rules already available.

These ones are stored on Dropbox so you may need an account to view them. If you don't want to do that, you could always check the publisher's website to see if they have them on there, and then you could add a link to that to help others out.

You don't need an account or filling up anything to view or download the Chu Han rules on Dropbox, at least not the Engilsh rules.

When the rules were first posted by the dev in the beta forum, I had the exact same experience as OP. Pretty sure that they made a mistake with the options when they uploaded it and later fixed that, because now, the exact same link works without a Dropbox account.

Edit: I have to correct that. This still needs an account with the link I described, but when you go to the game page, there’s a rules link which doesn’t ask for account, and that’s the one Jellby referred to I guess.

I can't see the link you're referring to that requests sign-up, but usually those links have another link at the bottom of the sign-up form that says something like "or continue to download only". I had one recently for something non-BGA related - I have a Dropbox account, but couldn't be bothered to sign in, so I just clicked the link and could then access the files.

Nevertheless, it's not uncommon to have rules links pointing to BGG files, and those require a BGG account and signing in.

Not the case of Chu Han, though.
