Automatic Boot?

Post by PopularOutcast »

I have been in two games recently where the opponent ran out of time. I generally give people a minute or two before booting. However, the system has booted the player as if I had pressed the button to do so. I see the message on the right that the player will get booted if there is no activity and then the player has been booted.

Is this a new feature? Or a new option that is automatically set? I cannot find anything like this in the BGA release notes. Has this happened to anyone else? Can I turn it off?

From the logs it looks like the player skipped their own turn which is a little odd. I don't know if that's the message shown when a person quits while out of time.

I didn't think so, I thought if you quit it says, "blah blah has quit the game" with nothing else (and you can see this in other logs - it took me a while to find the game the OP refers to). I agree, it seems strange.

I apologize, I should have posted links to the game. One of them I cannot find. I think it was Space Base and the player quit right as the game was ending so maybe it didn't register. This is the game that I think JimBut found - https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=777333265. Move 104 shows the other player skipping their own turn and then Move 105 shows the player quitting the game and then Move 106 the player plays a move. It was weird. Perhaps the packets arrived in non-sequential order far enough apart that the software could not process them.

It was two odd occurrences happening in a span of 24 hours and something I had not seen before so I was wondering if it was prevalent. Apparently not. :) lol
